In-House Testing Laboratory.

IPW operates its own testing laboratory at the Cork facility, equipped for hardness testing, tensile strength testing and chemical composition analysis – verification carried out on site, with results recorded against the batch.

Testing Under One Roof.

Most fabricators send material and components to a third-party laboratory for testing. IPW carries out hardness, tensile, and composition testing in-house at the same Cork facility where the material is fabricated and galvanized.

Testing on site means faster verification, no gap in the traceability chain, and a documented test record that stays within one facility and one quality system – from the incoming material certificate through to the test result issued with the delivery.

Hardness Testing.

Hardness testing verifies that material and finished components meet the specified mechanical properties. IPW’s hardness tester allows rapid on-site verification against material specifications and standards.

Tensile Strength Testing.

The tensile testing machine measures the load a material or component withstands before yield and failure, confirming tensile and proof-load performance against the product specification.

For overhead line hardware operating under sustained mechanical load, this provides documented assurance that the delivered product performs as specified.

Chemical Composition Analysis.

IPW’s metal analyser verifies the chemical composition of incoming and in-process material, confirming that the steel grade supplied matches the material certificate and the specification.

In-house composition analysis closes the loop on material traceability: the grade is verified on site, not taken on paper alone.

Verification at Every Stage.

The laboratory supports quality control through the full production process: from checking incoming material against its EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificate to verifying finished components before dispatch. Test results are recorded against the batch reference and issued with the delivery.

Documentation Issued:

  • EN 10204 Type 3.1 material test certificates.

  • Hardness test results against the batch reference.

  • Tensile test results against the product specification.

  • Chemical composition analysis results.

  • Final inspection and release documentation.
