Our Services.

Steel processing, fabrication, and hot-dip galvanizing all run through the Cork facility, alongside the factored OHL hardware and galvanized stock ranges that go out with them. Orders are coordinated through a single point of contact, from enquiry to despatch.

Substation Steelwork.

Structural steelwork for substations and grid connections: equipment support frames, gantries, cable and busbar supports, earthing structures and access steelwork. Fabricated to your drawings at the Cork facility, hot dip galvanized on the same site, and certified to CE Execution Class 3 under EN 1090. One supplier from steel to galvanized, ready to install.

Overhead Line Hardware.

The complete overhead line hardware range: ball & socket, crossarms, earth rods, insulator pins, pole hardware – composite and wooden + much more. Supplied galvanized and ready to install, tested to ENA ETS, BS 3288 and BS EN 61284, and available through IPW across Ireland and the UK.

Offsite Integration.

Components are fabricated, galvanized, assembled, checked and packed at the Cork facility, then delivered as complete, labelled packs sequenced to your construction programme. What arrives on site is ready to install – no pallet of parts to sort. Fewer deliveries, less site storage, no missing fixings, and documentation in the pack.

Supporting network investment through 2040.

ESB Networks’ published development plans identify widespread uprating of substations and overhead lines through 2040, alongside recognised supply chain challenges across the network. IPW supports the contractors delivering these programmes: substation steelwork fabricated and hot-dip galvanized in Cork, and overhead line hardware supplied to specification, all from a single Irish site. One supplier for steelwork and fittings, certified to EN 1090 EXC3 and EN ISO 1461:2022.

Hardware for the composite pole transition.

The same planning documents confirm the network is moving beyond the creosote wood pole. Composite poles have been supplied to every region in the country, installation in designated situations is becoming a business-as-usual activity, and framework procurement has reached completed tender documentation. Behind this sits a fixed regulatory date: the EU derogation permitting new creosote poles expires in October 2029, with over 2.2 million creosote-treated poles on the Irish network.

Composite poles carry different hardware requirements. Attachment methods, banding, brackets and pole-top assemblies developed for wood do not transfer directly to composite sections. IPW holds overhead line hardware for composite pole applications within the same Cork stockholding, and can review contractor schedules against the pole manufacturer’s fitting requirements at enquiry stage.
